2012 Dumol Pinot Noir ‘Aidan’ (Russian River Valley)
by JJ Buckley Fine Wines
On Sale $84.94 (reg. $94.94)
For ultra-low production, collectible California Pinot Noir, you really cannot surpass DuMol. Since Andy Smith and Kerry Murphy paired up two decades ago, they have built a world-class reputation as one of California’s “superstar wineries” (Parker) for wines that are “rich and layered but never heavy” (Galloni). In other words, California at its best! This is the lowest price in the country for a seriously in demand, low-production Pinot that got 95pts from Robert Parker for its “Côte de Nuits-like earthy/forest floor character” and it will drink gorgeously over the next seven years!
The 2012 ‘Aidan’ comes from a tiny 3-acre vineyard on the true Sonoma Coast, and is exclusive to DuMol. Aged in 50% French oak, ‘Aidan’ is soaring with soft wild fruits, pine forest, and spice all wrapped in a pretty stunning texture. Andy Smith called 2012 one of their greatest ever, and the exceptional quality of the fruit compelled Smith to forego the inclusion of whole clusters as he has done for ‘Aidan’ before and since. The result is that the glorious purity of the fruit shines through, soft but with enough structure to hold it all in balance.
Fewer than 500 cases of the Aidan were made in this superlative vintage and at $84.94 this is the lowest price around. We have offered DuMol’s exceptional Pinot Noir before, and they disappear fast so contact us today!
