2013 Armando Parusso Barolo Bussia

Parusso is without a doubt one of the most experimental producers in all of Barolo thanks to its Burgundy-inspired winemaking techniques. Parusso’s Bussia is Barolo by way of Vosne-Romanee from one of the area’s finest recent vintages. It’s also clear proof that Marco Parusso’s unconventional efforts can produce otherworldly results that still stay true to the character of Nebbiolo. Compared to other collectible Baroli, Parusso’s Bussia is an ideal representation of the iconic cru at a far more reasonable price, especially considering that the 2013 vintage is already being compared to 2010 for its “thrilling, utterly captivating” Barolo!
The critical praise for Parusso’s 2013 Bussia shows a remarkable consensus, with James Suckling claiming it's “one of the greatest wines I have ever had from here,” the Wine Advocate calling it “articulate and profoundly expressive,” and Antonio Galloni describing it as “super-expressive...full of personality.”
Barolo-watchers shouldn’t be surprised by Parusso’s recent success. The maverick Marco is among Barolo’s most experimental producers, going far beyond the old-fashioned ‘modernist’ label. Inspired by Burgundy, Parusso experiments with whole clusters, cold soaks, and aging on the lees, all of which are highly uncommon in Piedmont, but give his Barolo a stunning textural richness and tannin that supports the classic Nebbiolo aromas.
With Parusso’s reputation on the rise, it won’t be long before demand from collectors puts further pressure on pricing. There are only a handful of cases available so contact us today to secure a few bottles for your cellar. Cheers!
