2013 Finca Decero 'Amano' Remolinos Vineyard

Argentina has always been a country of extremes, and thanks to its extreme mountain terroir it has some of the greatest potential for fine wine in all of South America. This estate has been exploring that potential since the early 1990s and they've built a one of a kind winery ‘from scratch’ or decero, at the base of the Andes. Finca Decero’s flagship ‘Amano’ is a single-vineyard beauty that packs the power and depth of classic Bordeaux blends with an otherworldly freshness and minerality that can only come from the Andes.
You won't find this vintage anywhere else for under fifty bucks, and after recently tasting this impressive effort, we think it's a serious overachiever that will rival many higher priced options from the new and old world.
Decero’s Remolinos estate sits at a dizzying 3,500 feet in Argelo (the highest subzone of Mendoza) and ‘Amano’ is sourced entirely from that vineyard. Decero has kept standards high and quantity low, picking only the best parcels and producing fewer than 700 cases. It is at once a beautifully familiar Bordeaux blend yet with a distinctive Argentine edge; Malbec takes center stage at 65% partnered with 28% Cabernet Sauvignon and the remainder Petit Verdot and Tannat. It showcases glorious concentration with a graceful textured palate of purple fruits, smoke, black cherry, and flowers that could literally knock you off your feet.
Easily one of the best South American bottles we've have tried in some time, the Decero ‘Amano’ shows you just how far Argentina has come and we have it for a price that can't be beaten! Cheers!
