"Keenan has been on a real high-quality roll for a number of years, and they are among my favorite wines in Napa Valley, combining power and complexity." - Robert Parker
2013 was the vintage of a lifetime in Napa Valley, and for Keenan, "one of the shining stars, not only of Spring Mountain, but all of Napa Valley" per Robert Parker, it was the perfect chance to show that their flagship Merlot/Cabernet blend can compete with the best that California and Bordeaux have to offer.
This is an absolutely iconic Napa estate, and according to Robert Parker, "some of the finest wines of Napa Valley are emerging from Robert Keenan Winery.” Earning double 95-point scores from the Wine Advocate and Antonio Galloni, the 2013 vintage of the ‘Mernet’ Reserve is 50/50 Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon and combines elegance, density, and pure deliciousness in a structured frame that should drink beautifully for the next two decades.
The old winery atop Spring Mountain was founded in 1904, but shut down during prohibition until Robert Keenan resurrected the estate. Today, the vineyards are now in fine form, supplying phenomenal raw material, especially in a stellar vintage like 2013. Along with Michael Keenan’s extensive improvements, this winery is now “making the best wine of its 25-year history” according to Robert Parker, who described Keenan as one of his favorites in all of Napa!
2013 was, for Parker, the vintage of a lifetime, combining “power, intensity and equilibrium.” For Napa’s Keenan, it’s the culmination of a multi-decade effort to bring their wines up to the highest standard in the valley. A bottling that Parker describes as having "all the elegance and nuances of a grand cru Bordeaux allied with the ripe, concentrated, saturated fruit that Napa and particularly Spring Mountain provides," with well under 500 cases produced, our small parcel will be gone in a heartbeat, so contact us today! Cheers!
