2013 Lynmar Pinot Noir Quail Hill
by JJ Buckley Fine Wines
On Sale $49.94 (reg. $59.94)
A bottle of Lynmar Pinot Noir is a rare site these days, as most of their tightly allocated production goes to their mailing list or gets snapped up by loyal restaurants. We are thrilled to be able to offer a small allocation of their 2013 Quail Hill Vineyard, a site that previously supplied Merry Edwards and and Soter, and was declared one of the top Sonoma vineyards for Pinot by Wine Spectator.
Lynmar has been around since 1990 and sold their highly sought after Pinot fruit to the elite of the Russian River. Now they bottle their own gorgeous Pinot from the site, all sustainably farmed. This is Russian River Pinot with Burgundy level density and longevity. The much-heralded 2013s are no exception and will thrill those seeking depth and grip in their Pinot Noir. Winemaker Shane Finely brought every bit of expertise from Kosta Browne to realize the full potential of this exceptional vineyard. Wine Enthusiast named this 2013 a Cellar Selection and our staff know from personal experience that this will take a decade minimum to start to show its stuff.
This is the bottle to open the next time you host a polite French oenophile at your table who claims California Pinot Noir can’t age, as the structure and complexity are grand cru level. We are always on the lookout for Lynmar and we highly recommend Pinot lovers grab a few bottles of the 2013 Quail Hill as it’s a rare sight! Cheers!
