"One of the most extraordinary vineyards of Napa Valley is the Eisele Vineyard, which boasts a 40+ year history of producing compelling wines." - Robert Parker
From one of “California’s and the world’s great wine estates” (Parker), the ‘Altagracia’ from Eisele Vineyard (formerly called Araujo) is a stunning 96-point Cabernet from one of the “greatest terroirs in all of Napa Valley.”
Araujo rose to fame with their Eisele Vineyard Cabernet in the 1990’s, earning the status as one of the most famous and sought-after Cabernet producers from Napa - a true, estate grown, Napa Valley "First Growth". Today they are now owned by Francois Pinault of Chateau Latour, who has renamed the winery after its most famous asset, the Eisele Vineyard, which they continue to farm biodynamically and organically. Located at the base of the Palisades, east of Calistoga, the Eisele vineyard was first planted in the 1880s, and has been Cabernet based for the past half century.
The Altagracia is a Bordeaux blend of 81% Cabernet, and the rest Cabernet Franc/Petite Verdot, leading to a balanced, elegant profile of soaring aroma and decadent texture. James Suckling awarded the 2014 Altagracia with 96pts and Robert Parker has never been shy about his feelings, placing Altagracia “among the finest second wines consumers will find in northern California...[they] have been outstanding examples of Cabernet Sauvignon.”
While the Altagracia is certainly the more approachable of their estate reds (especially in 2014), it will definitely need a few more years of patience to get the most out of it, but then will drink beautifully for a decade and a half. We have a limited quantity in stock, so get yours today. Cheers!
