"...Feytit-Clinet is a property on the rise." - Robert Parker
Feytit Clinet should be firmly on the radar of any savvy Bordeaux buyer. Robert Parker has been championing the property for some time, recommending nearly 10 years ago that "Pomerol enthusiasts need to keep a watch for this estate as it is beginning to produce superlative wines." Since then, he's recognized that "This property has come of age...and is now routinely one of the better wines of Pomerol."
Though you wouldn't know it from the price, Feytit Clinet occupies some of Pomerol’s most enviable terroir, neighboring such illustrated estates as Trotanoy, Clinet and Latour à Pomerol. Formerly managed by the Moueix family, the Chasseuil family have been at the helm since 2000. In the intervening years, their little property has stepped out of the shadow of its former caretakers and has really come into its own, as evident by the "terrific job" they did with their 2014.
Per Antonio Galloni, the 2014 "is fabulous. A wine of real pedigree...There is little doubt this is one of the most compelling Pomerols of the vintage." Neal Martin goes on to say, “there is nothing ostentatious about this wine, rather it is all about the composure, refinement and precision.” The same can surely be said of the estate itself, and both the wine and its position in the market is all the better for it.
There's precious little of any vintage of Feytit Clinet out there for under $50, and it's unlikely that many future vintages will be at that price either. Per Parker, it’s “just a matter of time before prices reflect the quality at this estate.” Recent goings-on in Bordeaux suggest that we probably won’t have to wait much longer to see that. This 2014 vintage may well be the last opportunity to get a hold of Feytit Clinet for under $50, so don’t miss your chance! Cheers!
