2014 Dry River Pinot Noir
by JJ Buckley Fine Wines
On Sale $69.94 (reg. $74.94)
From New Zealand's iconic producer, Dry River, comes this 98pt gem currently available in the US only through JJ Buckley. Known for their robust Burgundian style, Dry River’s 2014 is concentrated and powerful with an enviable backbone promising over a decade of enjoyment.
One of the founding wineries of the Martinborough, NZ region, long time wine-maker Neil McCallum was one of the first to plant Pinot Noir in Martinborough back in the 1970s, and since then the region has become one of the most respected Pinot producing terroirs in the world.
Dry River is truly deserving of its cult status. Through years of high-quality wines and glowing critical praise, Dry River has earned a very strong following. As the Wine Advocate says: "the ultimate proof is in the taste, and in terms of quality Dry River Pinots are right up there."
Within the context of New Zealand Pinot Noir, Martinborough (and Dry River) is known for wines of intense depth and structure worthy of the cellar. Production is quite limited even in a bumper year like 2014, and very little of this makes it stateside. If you're a fan of the top Pinots that the world has to offer, you should grab this while you can!
