"The Dugat-Py wines are breathtaking for their richness and depth. Despite their sheer concentration, the wines retain tons of vineyard and vintage character." - Antonio Galloni
An acknowledged master of Pinot Noir, Dugat-Py is typically one of the most tightly allocated producers of red Burgundy that we offer and even their village level wines sit above other’s 1er crus. Fortunately, we are able to offer their ‘Coeur de Roy’ Tres Vieille Vignes for 35% off and you will not want to let this one pass!
If your French is a bit rusty, Tres Vieille Vignes means really old vines, and they aren’t kidding. From Pinot plantings up to 105 years old from near the top of slope, the 2014 ‘Coeur de Roy’ is practically bursting at the seams, showing a density and length that can only come from old vines farmed with such low yields.
Burghound writes that along with Domaine Leroy, Dugat-Py makes “the most vin de garde Pinot Noir in the world” and their “wines are built for the very long haul." The intensity of even these village wines can stand up to the 60% new oak and 70% whole clusters Dugat employs. Considered among the “top echelon of the world's finest Pinot Noir producers” per Burghound, Bernard Dugat produces “exceptional wines” (Wine Advocate) and is the 12th generation of his family making wine in Burgundy!
Dugat-Py’s wines are always very low-production, even at the village level, and we have a minuscule quantity available, so don’t wait long on this one. Cheers!
