"Leonetti Cellars produces seriously rich efforts that have a perfect blend of power and finesse, with gorgeously managed tannin, seamless textures and awesome purity." - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
This allocation of the Reserve Proprietary Blend from Leonetti Cellars - Washington State’s undisputed 1st growth winery - has just arrived and is “unquestionably one of the gems in this vintage” according to the Wine Advocate.
Founded back in 1977 by Gary Figgins and now run by son Chris, Leonetti continues to be a serious benchmark producer in Washington State, making some of the most in-demand bottlings in the Northwest. Chris Figgins has taken on the mantle of winemaker with aplomb, earning a WA100-point rating for the 2010 Reserve!
Today’s 2014 is a tightly allocated collectible that easily competes with elite Napa Cabs and top classified growth Bordeaux, so collectors would do well to round out their cellar with this Walla Walla gem. Fortunately, we have the 2014 available for the best price in the U.S.!
Figgins doesn’t make his Leonetti Reserve in the typical fashion. IUnstead of assembling a precise percentage of each variety, he focuses on the most successful barrels and vineyard plots and pieces together the best cuvee for that vintage. For 2014, a “terrific” vintage leading to “large-scaled, voluptuous and sexy wines” (Wine Advocate), Cabernet took a stronger position at 79% with Malbec (13%) and Petit Verdot (8%) adding more layers of herbs, earth, and texture.
Thanks to the warm and open-knit vintage, this edition of the Leonetti Cellar Reserve should only need a few years to start showing its stuff, but it will hold for another two decades easily. Cheers!
