"One of the most extraordinary vineyards of Napa Valley is the Eisele Vineyard, which boasts a 40+ year history of producing compelling wines." - Robert Parker
This phenomenal Cabernet Sauvignon from Eisele Vineyard (formerly Araujo) comes from one of California’s best vineyards, and with fewer than 2,000 cases made in 2015 (a vintage referred to as “another great one for Napa" by Jeb Dunnuck) it is sure to sell out faster than ever.
Those who know California wine already are aware of the extraordinary reputation of the Eisele Vineyard in Calistoga, and their second wine Altagracia is, per Robert Parker, “among the finest second wines consumers will find in northern California.” This 2015 Altagracia Cabernet has a “more dialed-in, terroir character” (JS95pts), complete with “blackberries, chocolate and pine needles” that despite its ‘second’ wine status, will easily compete with the best of Napa and grand vins of Bordeaux's Left Bank.
“One of the greatest terroirs in all of Napa Valley” (Parker), the Eisele Vineyard made Araujo one of the top cult producers in Napa. It has seemed fortuitous that Francois Pinault of Chateau Latour would take on the next chapter in Araujo’s story, renaming the estate for its legendary vineyard. The outlook is good for Eisele under the new owners as the 2013 Eisele Cabernet, the first since Pinault purchased the estate, earned a perfect 100-points from Robert Parker, and their second wine is flourishing as well. The Altagracia is, like the flagship wine, sourced from the biodynamically farmed Eisele Vineyard, and with a touch of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, this Altagracia is complex, layered, and also plain delicious. Secure a few bottles today and you will not be disappointed. Cheers!
