"...I am increasingly drawn to the straight appellation Chardonnay...as [it's] less expensive, relatively easy to find and full of personality." - Antonio Galloni
The 2015 from Brewer Clifton is everything you could want in a California Chardonnay: balance, richness, structure, you name it…It deftly melds the quintessential ripe flavors from Santa Barbara with the bright acidity from the Pacific's refreshing influence and it’s available today at the best price of any vintage!
Co-founder Greg Brewer helped to define the Santa Rita Hills AVA back in the 90’s and he has devoted his entire career to the area, which today is helping to redefine the modern California wine style. We’ve been major fans of them for many years and have always been taken with their skill at crafting singular wines that bridge the gap between Burgundy and California. This 2015 effort falls right in line with the house style and is a sure-fire winner for the price.
Working with Southern California’s best cool-climate sites, Brewer Clifton crafts 100% of their wines from estate fruit and have spent two decades turning the Santa Rita Hills into one of California’s greatest region for Burgundian varietals. Along the way they’ve nabbed high praise from Parker for having “admirably exploited the extraordinary potential that exists in selected micro-climates in Santa Barbara county.” While Steve Clifton has since moved on to a solo project, Greg Brewer continues as lead winemaker maintaining their house style and standards.
With over 100 wines rated 90+ points from the Wine Advocate, Brewer Clifton has firmly established a brilliant track record for quality and they’ve solidified their reputation as “a benchmark estate in the Santa Rita Hills,” per the Wine Advocate. Better yet, their reasonable pricing makes these wines sensational values. The lowest price in the nation on their 2015 Chardonnay makes this a screaming deal that you should be stocking up on by the case, but act fast as quantities are limited. Cheers!
