Talbot may fly under the radar vis-à-vis the big names of the Left Bank, but Robert Parker asserts that they’re “capable of producing very special wines” and their 2015 clearly proves that point. Over the past decade, Talbot has undergone a modest renaissance becoming one of the most promising values in classified growth Bordeaux, and this double 94pt effort is a must for enthusiasts looking for “an old-school, classic, concentrated 2015 that does everything right”(JD).

A name like Talbot conjures up the ghost of the bygone British links to Bordeaux’s rich wine history, though even its most ardent fans would agree by the 1990s Talbot was in a rut. Yet with neighbors like the three Leovilles (Las Cases, Barton and Poyferre), the sprawling 300-acre estate had tons of untapped potential, and consultants Stephane Derenoncourt and Eric Boissenot have been on the scene since 2007, teasing out the St. Julien terroir with finesse and consistency.

“This is always a well-made, classic Saint-Julien” (JD), and with many years of prime drinking ahead, Talbot has delivered “another excellent vintage” (DC). We only have a handful of cases in stock so don’t miss out!

94 points, James Suckling: "A big, rich wine for St. Julien with plenty of power and concentration, which enables it to carry plenty of spicy and toasty oak. The tannins need some time to soften, but the elegant finish says that from 2020 this should really impress."

94 points, Wine Enthusiast: "This wine seems to be all about structure and tannins. The fruit comes through slowly and has a way to go in its development. But black currants are there, ripe and promising well for the future."
