2015 Sojourn Pinot Noir (Russian River Valley)
by JJ Buckley Fine Wines
On Sale $39.94 (reg. $43.94)
The verdict is in for 2015 Russian River Pinot Noir and given the exceptionally high quality in Sonoma, we are grabbing with both hands. This highly anticipated release from boutique producer Sojourn Cellars is a gloriously fresh yet robust Pinot Noir available today for the best price around! Sojourn creates small-production, artisanal expressions of cool-climate terroir that have grown increasingly popular with each vintage we have offered, becoming a real staff favorite in the process.
Low yields but a warm harvest meant ridiculously concentrated, flavorful grapes in 2015 that nevertheless still show great balance. Galloni wrote that the better examples are “rapturous, viscerally thrilling wines,” while the Wine Advocate called it a “special” growing season resulting in “bold, beautiful, ultra-intense Sonoma Coast Pinots.”
Ultra-low production in 2015 means only 775 cases were made of their RRV Pinot. Give that the growing area for this bottling is arguably the heart of California's best Pinot producing region, this 2015 is serves as an example of why the area is so highly regarded. The cuvee blends fruit from the Pratt, Riddle, Wohler, and Reuling Vineyards, from the Sebastopol hills and Green Valley, and it captures the bright, concentrated personality of the vintage. With the low production, and loyal clientele, there’s not much to go around, and it seems to get more popular every year, so contact us today! Cheers!
