2016 Lewis Chardonnay Sonoma Russian River Valley
by JJ Buckley Fine Wines
On Sale $49.94 (reg. $54.94)
Randy Lewis is on an absolute tear since jumping from race cars to winemaking back in ‘94, and over the past twenty years Lewis Cellars has emerged as a serious part of the landscape in both Napa and Sonoma. Just two years ago Lewis’ Cabernet was declared Wine Spectator’s Wine of the Year, and demand is (predictably) through the roof. Their delicious Russian River Chardonnay however, is a hands-down classic, and proof positive that the winemaking team at Lewis Cellars has developed into a world-class operation worthy of their Napa address.
Lewis’ biggest achievement might be in finding such terrific vineyards throughout Northern California to work with, because no matter the vintage their Russian River Chardonnay is bursting at the seams with flavor and concentration. Full bodied, layered, and shamelessly Californian this is a wine for Chardonnay lovers. Getting 11 months in barrel and full malolactic, the Sonoma Chardonnay is fabulously rich but never buttery, and its nice linear acidity gives great balance to the weight and carries it back to a long finish.
Perennially popular, Lewis Cellars is in greater demand than ever since they landed the top spot in Wine Spectator and we are very happy to have secured a few cases of this latest release, so grab some for yourself and enjoy today!
