"Bruno Rocca is without question one of the hottest estates in Barbaresco right now." - Antonio Galloni, Vinous

As one of Barbaresco’s most respected family producers, Bruno Rocca is well known for making a range of single cru releases from “some of the very best vineyards in Barbaresco and Neive” (Galloni), in addition to their straight Barbaresco. That entry level cuvee is often one of the region’s top values dollar for dollar, and in 2017 is an incredible overachiever since Rocca released no other Barbaresco from this vintage.

All the top quality fruit destined for their single vineyard designates went into this sole bottling, including their crown jewel, “the choicest parcel within Rabajà” (Galloni). That makes this one of the single best deals in 2017 Barbaresco, and it’s a “classic” 94pt wine that defies the vintage with “grace and enormous elegance” (Wine Advocate). You won’t find it for a better price anywhere else, and it’s the perfect 2017 to stock up on by the case to follow over the next two decades!

Bruno Rocca’s son Francesco is “one of the most talented young winemakers in Piedmont” (Galloni) and has made his presence known at the family estate, returning to traditional large oak casks, and generally pursuing a more classical approach. 2017 had it all: heat, hail, frost, but those willing to cut yields and bottle only the perfectly healthy fruit were rewarded with “intensity and overall balance” (Wine Advocate). As Rocca’s only Barbaresco in 2017, this really punches above its weight, and is a perfect cellar candidate, too!

94 points, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The classic Bruno Rocca 2017 Barbaresco surprisingly reveals cool-vintage aromas from what was in fact a warm growing season. When given ample time to open, this pretty Nebbiolo offers a long list of aromatic characteristics, starting off with a dusty note of white calcium that spans out to broad aromas of purple fruits and spice. However, that delicate mineral note is the wine's distinguishing factor, and it adds grace and enormous elegance to the finished results. You usually don't get this level of detail or finesse in the hot years, but this wine pulls it off without a hitch."
