"Year in, year out, John Williams Frog's Leap makes one of the most distinctive and reasonably priced Cabernets in Napa Valley." - Vinous

You can’t throw a stick without hitting a new cult Cabernet label in Napa Valley, but at the end of the day wineries like Frog’s Leap have a track record for making old-school Napa Cabernet that never goes out of style, and for a fraction of the price. For years, Frog’s Leap has made “classically built, delicious and incredibly fairly priced” wines (Galloni), and today’s 2017 is no different. This 95pt Cabernet from their organic, dry farmed vineyards is a classic for under 50 bucks, and despite occupying prime Rutherford real estate like Scarecrow, Quintessa and Sloan, remains an “under the radar gem.” This is pure Rutherford grown Cabernet and it's a standard bearer for an old school style of elegant, nuanced Cab that we just can’t get enough of!

From the very beginning Frog’s Leap set out to make a Cabernet inspired by the old school Napa greats like Inglenook and Beaulieu Vineyard, and their coveted vineyards in Rutherford have provided all the raw material they need to do just that. Their two estate vineyards sit on the Rutherford Bench, a famous 3 mile slice of terroir that combines volcanic soils and an ancient riverbed, tailor made for world-class Cabernet. Showing classic Rutherford dust (a term coined by a BV winemaker in the ‘30s), the 2017 is super finessed and complex for the price point, and will drink beautifully over the next 10-15 years. Cheers!

95 points, Vinous: "The 2017 Latour à Pomerol is a gorgeous wine that is at once deep and yet also super-expressive in its bouquet. Sweet tobacco, dried herbs, mint, pepper and spice give the 2017 striking aromatic presence to play off a core of ripe red cherry fruit. Medium in body yet wonderfully deep and fleshy, the 2017 has so much to offer. I like it as much from bottle as I did from barrel." - Antonio Galloni
