"...always one of the most reliable Albariños..." - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
There aren’t many wines that can match the food-friendly versatility of a great Albariño, yet too many producers just don’t put it front and center like it deserves. Fortunately, Palacio de Fefiñanes has been making this exceptional bottle since 1928, and it’s their flagship wine!
Jancis Robinson wrote “this is what Albariño should taste like,” and its Burgundian profile of white flowers and orchard and citrus fruits are “soft, round, juicy and rich” (Wine & Spirits).
There is really no better white wine at this price point to pair with delicious warm weather meals from summer to fall, and best yet you can stock up now since this superbly made Albariño will continue to improve over several years!
The property around Palacio de Fefiñanes in the northeast of Spain has buildings that go back to 1604, and for over a hundred years this winery has focused on mineral-inflected Albariño grown on the granite soils of Rías Baixas. Like a traditional Chablis, these are white wines that are absolutely to die for when paired with food, and seriously reward short- to medium-term aging. Their long history here has proven that particular claim, and they were the first producer to bottle a DO Rías Baixas Albariño.
The Wine Advocate’s Luis Gutierrez loves the Palacio de Fefinanes ‘Albariño de Fefiñanes’ on its “second, third and even fourth year,” so there’s no harm in stocking up and making this endlessly tasty Albariño your go-to white!
