Disgorged in March 2014 with a dosage of 3.2 grams per liter, Benoît Marguet's stimulatingly clear, deep, fresh and aromatic NV Reserve Grand Cru Extra Brut is based on vintage 2010 (67%, plus 33% Réserve wines from the vintages 2004 up to 2009), and blends 65% Pinot Noir with 35% Chardonnay. Straw-yellow, with a slightly reddish shimmer in its brilliantly clear color, this is an intriguingly full-bodied, fresh, elegant and well-structured champagne with an intense fruit aroma, a great balance and a lingering mineral taste. Very persistent, this impressive champagne combines power and complexity with finesse, elegance and purity. The oak gives, or underpins, the impressive structure that gives this cuvée and excellent aging potential of five, maybe ten or even more years. - Stephan Reinhardt
