Largely in the same mold as the 1962, if not with a touch more richness, the 1964 Château Clos de Sarpe offers lots of blackcurrant and mulberry fruits as well as coffee, spice box, incense, and black tea. Medium-bodied, beautifully textured, and elegant, it's another complex, completely resolved, yet lively Saint-Emilion that's drinking beautifully. As with 1952 vintage, 1964 favored the Right Bank, which largely escaped harvest rains.
