Possessing a fine bouquet of Kirsch and briary scents, it developed light hints of spearmint the 2nd day. Smooth, medium weight and generously fruited with waves of off-dry dark cherry, almost syrupy in the middle, but with enough acidity to keep it in synch. Right up there with the Dow and Graham's at the top of the 1980 vintage. Suave and filled with 2-3 decades of fine drinking ahead, this 35 year old Vintage Port shows extremely young for its age, yet is beginning to really hit its stride and gain more complexity. The persistent finish is loaded with sweet berry and mocha flavors and this 1980 emerged as one of the best bottles of this VP in recent years.
