A lively and attractive Rauzan with tobacco, liquorice, dark fruits and dried flowers on the nose. Smells quite intense with touches of vanilla and milk chocolate too. Bright and shiny on the palate, high acidity gives the thrill and really underpins the wine at this point giving direction and lift while there's a well defined mineral core that gives a metallic edge all the way through. This doesn't feel as if it's trying too hard, it's not too heavy or too mature, all the elements nicely balancing to give an enjoyable glass of wine with plenty of juicy fruit and lots of life left. Poured from magnum which will have definitely been an advantage in this tasting.
