It has always possessed considerable power as well as a muscular concentrated style and hefty tannin. Beginning to shed its tannin it reveals an intriguing dusty herb black cherry kirsch and mineral-scented nose with subtle vanillin from new oak in the background. There are medium- bodied concentrated flavors with some firm tannin but by and large this is a very accessible wine. It remains youthful with only a hint of amber at the edge of its deep ruby/purple color. This will undoubtedly be one of L'Arrosee's longest lived wines since their 1961. Anticipated maturity: now-2012.
