Decidedly fresher and more complex than the '86 which was served next to it. Deeply pitched and beautifully complex aromas that are now beginning to show the initial signs of maturing. The rich full-bodied mouth coating flavors are impressively intense and extremely powerful and there is an opulent almost unctuous quality to the finish which stains the palate and lingers for minutes. 1990 is not the greatest vintage of DRC Montrachet that I have had but for it to continue to develop in the glass for well over an hour is eloquent testament to its youthful state. In short a terrific effort and one that is still evolving though I doubt it will improve further.
