(note that some labels and the associated corks carry the indication of Clos la Roche on them). I've experienced more than a little bottle variation with this wine as some are quite aromatically advanced with noticeable secondary notes and even a trace of sous bois that leads to rich full and sweet moderately complex flavors carrying some slightly astringent tannins on the long finish. However the best bottles are absolutely stunning with soaring aromatics that display no trace of over ripe or post mature notes as they complement rich sweet and powerful flavors that retain a fine sense of elegance and finishing punch. While bottles such as this are drinking well they will hold (and perhaps even improve a bit more) for years to come. And note that the last two bottles I have had were positively brilliant.
