Dense in color chewy and extremely youthful in flavor with bright plum and currant shining through the thick veil of tannins. Tightly wound but clearly a wine destined to develop with cellaring until 2001 to 2003.--Pinot Noir Challenge. –HS

The impressively colored Corton Les Rognets is a huge rugged brooding style of Pinot Noir. This well-proportioned wine will need at least 10-12 years of cellaring to reveal its full potential. Although the tannin is high this wine appears to be worth the wait if you can defer your gratification and recognize the risk involved. Do not touch a bottle before 2005. Ambroise to no one's surprise has produced monster 1993s that are black-colored with massive tannin levels and in the finest examples tremendous levels of fruit. As usual it will be a question of which survives the longest - the fruit or the tannin? At least Ambroise was able to pack his finest wines with plenty of concentrated fruit.
