The 1995 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve has come of age now that it is in the bottle. This is the essence of North Coast Cabernet Sauvignon offering port-like thickness and richness a superb black currant mineral cedar and pain grille-scented nose full-bodied flavors of extraordinary intensity and overall balance and a long moderately tannic multidimensional finish. Anticipated maturity: 2003-2025. Shame on me for underestimating this beauty! This is a limited production offering from Pride Mountain Vineyards. Tel. (707) 963-4949

Fruit-driven aromas of black cherry and blackberry liqueur are still quite youthful. On the palate, concentrated briary black fruit and licorice flavors are nicely supported by firm acidity. This rather burly mountain Cabernet still shows a medicinal reserve. Finishes with big, chewy, tongue-dusting tannins and resounding length. This brooding Cabernet Sauvignon is still evolving.
