A candidate for the wine of the vintage Clape's 1995 Cornas exhibits an opaque purple color and a fabulously ripe sweet nose of licorice black plums and cassis followed by full-bodied dense concentrated well-balanced flavors with nicely integrated acidity and tannin. A heavyweight bruiser of a wine this is extremely oaky inky purple-colored and incredibly concentrated. With a massive tannic structure that towers over the fruit it has the impenetrable texture of a young Château Latour. So extracted it hurts the mouth. Best from 1999 through 2010. 1250 cases made. –TM
