Three 1996s from Dom Perignon are special. After having compared original releases and OEnotheque bottlings across a number of vintages going back to 1964 I am increasingly of the belief that the most enjoyable Dom Perignons are impeccably stored bottles of the original release. The 1996 Dom Perignon Rose is simply off the charts. What a wine. The 1996 Rose has begun to fill out rather dramatically. Today it is rich powerful and totally seductive. -Antonio Galloni

Deep smoky and complex with a kaleidoscopic bouquet incorporating wild strawberry peach apricot chestnut honey and cured meat. A firm strikingly concentrated midweight with powerful flavors of orange peel raspberry redcurrant baking spice and smoked meat and gentle supporting acidity. Smoky sweet and long on the back with a slowly building impression of acidity that suggests this will be a long ager. As usual a stunning Champagne.

Woodland strawberry scents drive this powerful rosé as intense as a great red Burgundy made transparent by the chalk soils in which it grew. The fine mousse lifts spicy scents of sandalwood the long finish starts out dark-toned growing brighter with air. Tight and young this is a beautiful floral pinot noir that carries the essence of Champagne.

Moet Chandon

Since 1743 when it was founded, Moet & Chandon has been passing down unequaled winemaking savoir-faire and an innovative and pioneering spirit from generation to generation. Founder Claude Moet was the first to embody these values when he made his Champagne the most sought-after in Europe. With his grandson, Jean Remy Moët, a pioneering and visionary mind, Moet & Chandon became a major international champagne brand. This saga quickly transformed the family House into a worldwide symbol of success.

The 1,190 hectares of rich limestone soil, 50% of which is classed as Grand Cru and 25% Premier Cru, make up the largest vineyard area in Champagne. Underground, the Moet & Chandon cellars are the most extensive in the region. Extending more than 28 kilometers, they form a subterranean labyrinth where the wine metamorphoses under optimum conditions of humidity and temperature.

Moet & Chandon is part of the luxury brands group LVMH, whose other prestigious wine holdings include Chateau d’Yquem, Cheval Blanc, Cloudy Bay, Krug, and Newton Vineyard, to name a few.
