View From The Cellar, October 2016

The 1996 Taittinger Comtes de Champagne has been a stunning example of the vintage since day one and at age twenty it is still not fully at its apogee of peak maturity. I had not tasted a bottle in five years and in the...

Wine Enthusiast, November 2006

Editor's Choice. Hugely toasty, nutty, mature, this is a delicious wine. The richness of the apple and cream flavors gives way to a finely balanced wine that keeps lightness in play with intense flavors. Drink now, it is...

In 1932, Pierre Taittinger, captivated by the Champagne region and by Chateau de la Marquetterie, developed a champagne business with his brother-in-law Paul Eveque. His son Francois took the torch 13 years later, making improvements to both the cellars and the vineyards. Step by step, he established the Taittinger brand as one of the great Champagne houses, known for its Chardonnay-dominant cuvees and in particular, the prestigious Comtes de Champagne.

Taittinger was sold to US investment group Starwood in 2005, but was bought back by the family a year later. Today, Pierre-Emmanuel Taittinger has built a team to embark on a new adventure in the spirit of conquest and continuity, including the production of sparkling wine in the English region of Kent.
