Jancis Robinson's Purple Pages, May 2012

Magnum. Very heady and almost medicinal nose. Very lively and rich and dancing. Fleshy and seductive. Lovely hedonistic stuff – much more developed than the 1993 and 1995. (18.5/20)

Maison Roche de Bellene is a negociant business in Burgundy launched in 2009 by Nicolas Potel, the owner of Domaine de Bellene. The business offers only the finest wines in limited cuvees to achieve its goal: to be the only “Haute Couture" negociant in Burgundy. Grapes are sourced from the same growers that Nicolas has been working with the last 15 years, who are either BIO certified or practice sustainable farming methods. The range of wines includes the widest selection of Grand Crus, prestige cuvees and individual terroirs from old vines both the Cote de Beaune and Cote de Nuits.

Bellene comes from the name “Belenos”, an ancient Gallic god of sun and beauty similar to Apollon to the Greeks and to the god of the sun to the Celtic. Beaune City was named “Belena” during the Roman period and “Bellene” in the Middle Ages.

This Latricieres Chambertin Grand Cru is part of the Roche de Bellene Collection Bellenum = a fine selection of very rare old vintages by Nicolas Potel. These wines, dating back from 1959 to 1996 are the result of a very strict selection of old vintages exceptionally released from the wine cellars of some of the most famous producers of Burgundy.

Latricieres-Chambertin is a Grand Cru Pinot Noir vineyard in Gevrey-Chambertin. It lies in the middle of triangle made up by Chambertin, Mazoyeres-Chambertin and Aux Combottes.
