The 1998 Welschriesling Trockenbeerenauslese Zwischen den Seen Number 11 has a yellow color with golden hues. It exhibits white peach, apricot, smoke, botrytis and freshly cracked white pepper aromas. Medium to full-bodied and elegant, this wine is stuffed with candied kumquats, jellied peaches, spices, and fresh apricots. It has an exceptional combination of refinement, power, and concentration. A contradiction in terms. Great dramatic tension between the intense sweetness and unctuous texture and the vivid, racy structure. The aromas and flavors evoke dried apricot, caramel, orange marmalade and Indian spices. Long, long finish. Best from 2002 through 2015. –BS
