Here is a beautifully aged Amarone that shows profound grace and elegance on all levels. The nose is expertly weaved with cherry, licorice, white truffle, caramel and butterscotch nuances. A tight, fine grain texture characterizes the mouthfeel, and bolsters the wine’s enormous intensity and persistency of flavor. It is aged six years in oak casks.

The 1999 Amarone (70% Corvina, 25% Rondinella, 5% Molinara) offers a more expressive core of fruit than the 2000 with a lovely sense of perfumed inner sweetness that blossoms on the palate. It is also more advanced in its aromatics, with early tertiary leather and coffee bean flavors that have begun to develop. It is a very complete Amarone yet I would prefer to drink it within the next few years while the fruit still has some freshness. Anticipated maturity: 2007 - 2009. - Antonio Galloni
