The unfined/unfiltered 2000 The Dead Arm Shiraz is one of South Australia’s finest wines of the vintage. A perfume of grilled steak intermixed with blackberries, new saddle leather, earth, pepper, and melted licorice rises from this awesome red. With great power, richness, and no hard edges, it is still young and primary, but should hit its peak in 3-7 years, and last for two decades or more.- RP

The 2000 The Dead Arm Shiraz is an amazing effort for this "lighter" vintage. More evolved than the 1999 most readers will find it more enjoyable to drink now and over the next 12-15 years. With great purity fabulous concentration remarkable unctuosity sweet tannin low acidity and layers of blackberry and cassis fruit that saturate the palate this brilliant wine actually sells for a song considering the tiny crop yields and ancient vines from which it is made. Anticipated maturity: now-2016.
