The 2000 Mazis-Chambertin Grand Cru from Dugat-Py offers up a complex bouquet of wild berries, damson, grilled meat, vine smoke and pencil lead, becoming more floral and expressive with air. On the palate, the wine is framed by fine-grained tannin and underpinned by juicy acids, but it's already beginning to open up. Indeed, this is a comparatively open-knit and expansive rendition of the domaine's Mazis-Chambertin. Vinified with 50% to 65% whole cluster and aged in 100% new oak. - William Kelley
