Pierre Damoy's 2000 Chambertin-Clos de Bèze Grand Cru is aging nicely, offering up a classic bouquet of ripe black fruit, smoked meats, rich soil and licorice. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, multidimensional and quite rich for the vintage, with a good core of fruit, savory tannins and creditable length. A more than respectable performance in a challenging vintage from the Clos de Bèze's largest landholder. - William Kelley
