The limited cuvee (118 cases) of 2000 Syrah Alder Springs Vineyard Homage to Ed Oliveira emerges from the increasingly fashionable Mendocino vineyard called Alder Springs. Its saturated purple color is followed by sweet aromas of blackberry liqueur intertwined with maple syrup smoke and Asian spices. The wine is meaty in the mouth with a chewy unctuous texture gorgeously integrated wood and acidity and fabulously fresh fruit on both the mid-palate and back end this glorious Syrah tips the scales at 14.7% alcohol. It was aged in 350 liter French puncheons coopered by Damy. Drink it over the next 10-12 years.
