The dense ruby/purple-colored 2001 Cabernet Sauvignon Quarry Vineyard exhibits earthy leathery mineral black raspberry and currant notes along with a sweet finish. It’s a beauty!

No one else in Rutherford is making Cabs this tannic and while the wine isn't really representative of its appellation it's a dramatic young cellar candidate. The fruity heart is ripe in blackberry black cherry and unsweetened dark chocolate with a compellingly long finish. Like its sister Cabs it should begin to be drinkable by 2008 and hold for many years after. - S.H. (9/1/2006) - 92

Even with 8+ years of age the wine is very dark at the core and just the faintest pink at the rim. The nose is showing some bright floral and cherry notes along with earthy secondary notes of forest floor and soy marinade. The palate too shows both primary and secondary characteristics with the emphasis now leaning towards youthful mouthfilling fruit and substantial tannins on the finish. A very nice wine recommend giving it some time in decanter for the various elements to harmonize.
