Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, June 2004

A big, fruity, rich St.-Emilion with surprising elegance for its flamboyant personality, this blend of 70% Merlot, 24% Caberent Franc, and 6% Cabernet Sauvignon, exhibits copious quantities of dried herbs intermixed with...

Wine Spectator, March 2004

Impressive aromas of blackberries and toasted oak. Full-bodied, with lovely rich fruit and refined tannins. Long and caressing. Give it time to come together. I actually like it better than the 2000. This family-owned...

The Beau-Sejour Becot vineyard is situated on the western plateau of Saint-Emilion, in the old parish of Saint-Martin de Mazerat. The estate covers 18.5 hectares of which 16.52 hectares are planted with Merlot (70%), Cabernet Franc (24%), and Cabernet Sauvignon (6%) on chalky soil with fossilized starfish. The average age of the vines is 40 years old and the fruit is harvested by hand.

This wine undergoes malolactic fermentation in 80-100% new barrels depending on the vintage. It then ages in the cellar for 16 to 18 months at constant temperature of 16 degrees Celsius. Annual production is approximately 60,000 bottles.
