Long made by the Jean-Pierre Moueix team under a 30-year farming contract which expired after 2000 the owners the Chasseuil family have taken back complete management of this estate located between Trotanoy and Latour a Pomerol and planted with 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc. The result is the 2001 which is undoubtedly the most improved Feytit-Clinet I have ever tasted. A breakthrough effort for this estate the dense ruby-purple colored 2001 boasts aromas of licorice blackberries and sweet cherry fruit intermixed with smoke iron and mineral notes. The wine is dense and medium to full-bodied with an opulent texture ripe tannin and a long concentrated finish. Produced from younger vines and lower yields (34 hectoliters per hectare) with more leaf-pulling and crop-thinning as well as a 4-5 week maceration period the 2001 is splendid. This is a sleeper of the vintage. Anticipated maturity: 2007-2020.
