The Bastor-Lamontragne 2001 has matured with style on the nose with attractive scents of honeycomb, passion fruit, lychee and apricot jam that is detailed and vivacious. The palate is balanced on the entry, although this sample showed a nagging sour note that just took the edge off the dense, opulent and unctuous finish. Giving the wine continued aeration, it does not seem to dissipate, ergo my slightly lower score than expected. - Neal Martin
