Burnt marmalade in colour, extremely concentrated with contrasting sweet and bitter flavours, vanilla bean, white truffles and lemon curd patisserie against tart lime zest and passion fruit. Harvest took place with five...

Vinous, January 2023

The 2001 Château de Fargues has a ton of botrytis on the nose, along with those trademark scents of Manuka honey and quince, Seville oranges and perhaps more delineation than I noticed on previous bottles. The palate has...

Chateau de Fargues is one of the oldest estates in the Sauternes appellation of Bordeaux and has been in the Lur Saluces family since 1472. Wine production only began in the 19th century, and not until 1935 were white grapes planted.

Chateau de Fargues’ 17 hectares of vines are located on a clay-gravel plateau with a clay and hardpan subsoil. The vines are an average of 35 years old and consist of two varieties: Semillon (80%), which gives richness, roundness, and structure to the wine, and Sauvignon Blanc (20%), which contributes wonderful aromas.

Chateau de Fargues has an extravagant bouquet, superb flavor and sometimes develops minerality with age.
