The stunning 2001 Expression is 100% Tempranillo from a single vineyard planted in 1927. The wine was barrel fermented and aged 18 months in new French oak before being bottled unfiltered. Purple in color it gives up a high-class nose of smoke spice tar meat blueberry and blackberry. In the mouth the wine is full-bodied nearly seamless fleshy and loaded with layers of ripe fruits and well concealed tannin. The finish lasts for over 45 seconds. Drink this great Rioja over the next 10-15 years. Only 100 cases made it to the USA.
