There are only 75 cases of the profound 2002 Chardonnay The Judge a special cuvee named after John Kongsgaard’s father. It takes all the qualities of the 2002 regular cuvee and ratchets them up to a degree of virtual perfection. Although it possesses an extraordinary intensity as well as power it remains impeccably well-balanced with a striking minerality and wonderful notes of white fruits citrus oils and crushed rocks.

Aromas of pit fruits mocha nuts and baking spices; in a rather closed phase today. Huge thick and sweet with deep flavors of dried fruits smoke honey and game. In contrast to the 2003 Judge this comes across as distinctly thicker than the regular bottling from the same year without quite the same vibrancy today. But this wine's extraordinary persistence suggests it will top the regular bottling with several years of additional aging. 94(+?) points
