The inky/purple-colored 2002 Syrah Seymour’s Vineyard offers up a huge bouquet of scorched earth, creme de cassis, melted tar, camphor, and the entire black fruit spectrum. Superb, full-bodied flavors are expansive, rich, profoundly concentrated, and velvety textured. Two to three years of patience is warranted for this glorious Syrah. It should easily last 12-15 years. There are 250 six-packs of this marvelous 2002, which comes mostly from hilltop sites.

The profound 2002 Syrah Seymour’s Vineyard is reminiscent of dry vintage port. It is intense, full-throttle, balls-to-the-walls stuff with a saturated black/purple color, tremendous ripeness, and great persistence on the palate. However, it is never over the top, too heavy or aggressive. It will require 4-5 years of cellaring, and should age for two decades.
