A ripe but not roasted and highly expressive nose features notes of dark raspberry, black cherry, spice and earth notes that are complemented by spicy plum and a smoky perfume that is akin to musk. The rich, intense and full-bodied flavors are surprisingly supple compared to the average 2003 today yet there is a solid lashing of sap-buffered tannins on the powerful, lingering and impeccably well-balanced finish. Like the ’03 Chambertin, this too should be capable of aging for a very long time though it is sufficiently accessible that it wouldn't be a vinous crime to open bottles after only a few more years of cellar time. 2020+
