Reviews for 2004 Didier Dagueneau Blanc Fume de Pouilly

WS 94
Wine Spectator - Wine Spectator, October 2006
Tight on the nose but uncommonly rich with a tightly wound core of lemon zest white flowers chalk and freshly baled hay. Long riveting finish. Best from 2007 through 2011. 2500 cases made. –JM

Didier Dagueneau is always slow to release his wines and I have not yet tasted his 2005s. Judging from the two 2004 wines I tasted he certainly got the better of that tricky vintage while capturing in his entry-level 2004... Didier Dagueneau is always slow to release his wines and I have not yet tasted his 2005s. Judging from the two 2004 wines I tasted he certainly got the better of that tricky vintage while capturing in his entry-level 2004 Blanc Fume de Pouilly the bright high acidity and intense minerality possible in an inherently lean well-watered year. A nose of fresh lime sorrel and nettle leads to a pungently-concentrated bracing palate citric and herbal with smoky salty chalky mineral suggestions. This finishes long and penetrating impressive if almost a bit strident.
