A markedly reduced nose only grudgingly offers up mature notes of honeysuckle and acacia blossom that introduce sweet, rich and beautifully complex middle weight flavors of impressive purity and vibrancy with excellent length. This is a very fine effort that has the hallmark softness of a classic Pucelles while retaining impeccable balance on the classy and refined finish. For my taste this is drinking perfectly well now. Note well though that this is a wine that is heavily affected by premox so have a back-up bottle ready.

(JG92-93 points) The 2004 Pucelles is a tad reduced as well, but clearly shows superb components underneath. The bouquet is quite minerally as well (not always the case for the more buxom Pucelles in its youth), offering up notes of peach, lemon, apple, crème patissière, minerals and a fine framing of oak. On the palate the wine is full-bodied and very transparent, with excellent depth at the core, crisp acids, and a very long, complex and impressive finish. Another superb bottle in the making- it will be interesting to see whether this or the Combettes ultimately hits the highest mark.
