The 2004 Brut emerges from the glass with attractive layers of fruit that come together in a gorgeous expression of perfumed fruit. This silky textured and totally finessed Champagne is another impeccable wine from Roederer. The 2004 growing season was long and yields were higher than normal yet Roederer has achieved a wonderful balance in this wine. The 2004 Brut was made from the estate's north-facing vineyards and 40% of the wine was aged in oak. This is Lot L032125A00017 disgorged in December 2008. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2016. -Antonio Galloni

Crisp and green in a grassy verdant way. Shows plenty of lime orange peel and apple notes with a touch of fresh-cut grass or chive. Balanced and elegant with subtle length. Drink now through 2018. 800 cases imported

Deep smoky aromas of dried redcurrant and cherry with notes of anise dried flowers and orange pith adding complexity. Deep but energetic offering vibrant citrus and orchard fruit flavors and a bitter note of blood orange. Juicy on the finish leaving spice and bitter herb notes behind. This is still quite young.

A burnished palate of caramel-wrapped fruit is the first impression. Overall the flavors are restrained and leave a delicate whisper of texture on the palate. The fruit is pretty straightforward with just a hint of oxidative woody character on the finish.

Louis Roederer

In 1845, at a time when majority of winemakers were buying the grapes rather than cultivating their own, Louis Roederer took a visionary approach. Wanting to master every aspect of the wine’s creation, he acquired several Grand Cru vineyards in Verzenay. Since then, every Louis Roederer vintage originates exclusively from their own vines. Its tete-de-cuvee, Louis Roederer Cristal, is among the finest Champagnes in the world.

The estate, which originally comprised 100 hectares acquired in 1850, now extends over 240 hectares, carefully chosen from the best terroirs of the Montagne de Reims, the Cote des Blancs, and the Vallee de la Marne. The estate cultivates 3 traditional grape varieties: Chardonnay for its minerality, finesse, and elegance; Pinot Noir’s solid constitution which adds structure to the blends and prepares the wine for aging; and Pinot Meunier whose adaptability brings harmony and softness to certain cuvees.

The Louis Roederer House has remained an independent, family-owned company and is now managed by Frederic Rouzaud, who represents the seventh generation of the lineage.
