Broad black cherry and leather aromas set up a smooth but hefty palate with deep berry flavors spice and smoked meat. Rich but balanced with a heaping of heavenly chocolate on the finish. A firm and structured wine with fine depth and distance.

Fat dense and chewy with excellent intensity to the blackberry flavor. Perhaps still a bit youthfully simple but has the concentration and ripe acidity to reward time in bottle. (A second bottle which I scored 89 showed a slightly roasted aspect and though chewy and lush in the middle palate finished with a trace of dryness.)

Full rich fruit aromas of plum blackberry and black cherry surrounded by sweet leather and a touch of cedar. Floral aromas float around the fruit followed by spicy cinnamon heart candy and a touch of smoke. Full bodied in the mouth with flavors of plum cassis and black cherry dominating the palate accented by cinnamon spice. Lots of fine grained tannin and quite a bit of acidity balances the ripe fruits. Dusty cocoa powder mixes with the fruits on the finish leading to lingering fresh anise.
